Kochi: Suriya, Ajay Devgn and Aparna Balamurali won the top category of the National Film awards.
Suriya and Ajay Devgn shared the best actor’s award while Aparna Balamurali won best actress’ title.
Suriya and Aparna got it for Soorarai Pottru Tamil feature film and Ajay for Hindi feature film Tanhaji.
Soorarai Pottru was adjudged best feature film. Tanhaji won the award for best popular film providing wholesale entertainment.
K R Sachidanandan won best director for Malayalam film Ayyappanum Koshiyum posthumously. Biju Menon got the best supporting actor award for the same film.
Lakshmi Priya Chandramouli won best supporting actress award for Tamil film sivaranjiniyum innum sila pengalum which also won best Tamil film and best editing awards.
Dollu was adjudged best Kannada film. It also won awards for best location and sound. Avijatrik won awards for best Bengali film and best cinematography.
Colour photo won best Telugu film, Thingalazcha nishchayam best Malayalam film.
The ten-member jury headed by Vipul Shah picked winners from an entry list of more than 300 feature films and 150 non-feature films vying for 50 award categorcategories.
