CBI summons Sivasankar

Kochi: The CBI has summoned Kerala Chief Minister’s former Principal Secretary M Sivasankar to appear before it in connection with the Life Mission housing scam tomorrow.

The central agency has directed him to appear before it at its Kochi office at 10.30 am. This is the first time CBI is summoning him in the case pertaining to receiving kickbacks in allocating the contractual work of building flats at Wadakkanchery in Thrissur district.

The allegation against Sivasankaru is that he shared the kickback amount received with the UAE consulate official, diplomatic baggage Gold smuggling accused Swapna Suresh told CBI.

Swapna, Sanddep Nair are the other accused in the Life Mission case. Sivasankar was suspended from service for about 17 months following various allegations after which he was reinstated.

Sivasankar was suspended for 17 months for his alleged involvement in the gold smuggling case in which Sivasankar is the 29th accused.

He was suspended on July 16, 2020, for recruiting Swapna Suresh, a prime accused in the gold smuggling scam, in a government illegally. In October 2020, Sivasankar was arrested and was in jail for 98 days.
