Kochi: The US has intensified strikes against Iran after firing missiles on Oil tankers passing through Hormuz strait.
US President Donald Trump said the US-Iran ceasefire is “over”, after both countries exchanged strikes.
Speaking at a NATO summit in Turkey, Trump said “They’re sick people, they’re led by sick people… As far as I’m concerned, it’s over”.
Trump said negotiators on both sides can continue to talk, but “I think they’re wasting their time”.
The US said it had fired at more than 80 Iranian targets after Iran attacked three oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz, BBC reported.
Iran has not directly claimed responsibility
In response, Iran said it was targeting US military sites in Bahrain and Kuwait.
Nato chief Mark Rutte says the US strikes were “absolutely necessary”, accusing Iran of “basically violating the ceasefire”.
Last month, Tehran and Washington signed a 14-page memorandum of understanding, aimed at extending the ceasefire and ending the conflict “on all fronts”
