Kochi: The allegations of fake identity cards being used for the Youth Congress election is becoming reportedly real as police have gathered evidence pointing towards foul play happening in the polls, media reports said.
Youth Congress workers Abhi Vikram, Feny, Binil Binu and Vikas Krishna arrested in this connection are strong supporters of the newly elected Kerala Youth Congress president Rahul Mamkoottathil, the reports said.
Twentyfour fake identity cards were reportedly seized from these people, the reports quoting police said.
Police have reportedly unearthed evidence related to destroying of digital evidence from the mobile phones and laptops of the suspects.
Police are waiting for directions from the election commission to take further action in this regard.
Like Congress, groupism is rife in Youth Congress and speculations are being made that it was the rivals of Mamkoottathil who had spilled the beans.
BJP state president K Surendran had alleged the involvement of a Congress MLA and that K C Venugopal and V D Satheesan were aware of it.
