Kochi: Five tourists, including four from Kerala, were killed and three injured in a road accident at Zojila Pass on the Srinagar-Leh national highway in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) Ganderbal district on Tuesday, media reports said.
The four deceased tourists are Anil, 34, Sudheesh, 32, Rahul, 28 and Vignesh, 23 from Palakkad, the reports said.
They were part of the 13 members who left by train on November 30.
Police reached the spot and carried out the rescue operation.
The incident took place when the vehicle carrying seven tourists and the driver skidded off a snow filled road and fell into a deep gorge.
The injured are being treated at a hospital. The driver, who sustained serious injuries, was referred to SKIMS Soura for treatment, the reports said.
