Apple dumps Trump’s tip

Kochi: US multinational tech firm Apple Inc has damned US President Donald Trump’s suggestion to make iPhones in the US instead of India.
Reiterating its ‘Make in India’ commitment,
Apple said it wanted to make the country a major manufacturing base.
It assured that Apple’s investment plans for India are intact.
India produced about 15 percent of its annual output.

Suggesting Apple to make its products in India for the Indian market, Trump said Made in India iPhones being sold in the US has to stop.
Cheaper skilled labour and availability of precision engineered product supply chains are the key advantages of China and India for manufacturing iPhones. Foxconn’s factory in Tamil Nadu, Tata Electronics ‘s Pegatron Corp operations are the other key manufacturers.
Apple is the largest tech company by revenue, with US$391.04 billion in the 2024 fiscal year.
