Kochi: Diplomat turned politician, Shashi Tharoor of Congress is frustrated over his party not taking extreme steps against him for his anti party writings and actions, political observers said.
After failing in all his bids to force Congress to expel from the party,
Tharoor has gone restless for not getting an unceremonious exit for his political adventurism.
Tharoor has gone top gear to paint Congress black by indulging in activities like exposing Nehru family’s autocratic governance during the Emergency to the liking of the BJP.
Shocking all political pundits, Tharoor even went on top gear to flay late premier Indira Gandhi and her son Late Sanjay Gandhi for committing atrocities during the Emergency.
Tharoor’s article against the Nehru family is the last weapon in his armoury to force the Congress to act against him as the time is running out for the outstanding orator to get ready for the Kerala assembly election which is nearing closer.
Tharoor knew long back that his services were not needed for the Congress at National level or in Kerala where the party is in the midst of groupism.
After retiring as UN junior Secretary General in 2007, the overseas educated Keralite realised that politics would be an ideal area for him to shine.
Soon he got a chance to succesfully contest as a Congress candidate from Thiruvananthapuram in 2009 and was instantly popular for his inherent mannerism and attractive personality.
Tharoor became a Union Minister to the dislike of many Kerala Congress leaders many of whom thought they were deprived of their due share despite working hard for the party for countless years.
Undeterred, Tharoor worked quietly increasing his rating nudging top Congress leaders in Kerala like Ramesh Chennithala.
He succeeded in becoming one of the favourites of the party High Command and Congress chief Sonia Gandhi.
Bored after Congress remaining out of power for the third time in a row and many leaders like Jyothi Aditya Scindia and Ghulam Nabi Azad leaving the party, Tharoor smelled problems waiting to happen in the party and started groundwork to jump to the rival camp.
His move to contest the party presidentship against the official candidate of the party was the first major step taken to show his affinity with the BJP.
Since then Tharoor took every opportunity to portray him as a rebel.
It was the Congress which had nurtured and honed Tharoor’s talent, when the BJP was accusing him of the unnatural death of his wife Sunanda Pushkar.
BJP realised his popularity in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls when he defeated Rajeev Chandrasekhar from Thiruvananthapuram as a Congress candidate.
This led to the BJP realising his popularity and unlimited talent and embarked on a mission to lure him ahead of the assembly election.
The BJP is planning to use him to the hilt in its pursuit to cherish its dream to capture power in Communism deep rooted Kerala.
The BJP which itself is divided in Kerala is struggling to sooth the unrest in the camp over the possible entry of Tharoor.
