Kochi: Exposure of purported leaked audio clip of a DYFI leader accusing party leaders of amassing wealth as they went up in ranks, media reports said.
The audio clip of the DYFI leader asks how party leader M K Kannan amassed wealth even as he used to sell peanuts.
The audio clip of district secretary and state secretariat member V P Sarath Prasad has created a storm in the party.
Sarath had said that CPM leaders became financially advanced once they scaled higher rungs in the party ranks.
He accused former minister A C Moideen, MLA and former party legislator M K Kannan, Anoop Davis Kada among others.
Sarath has clarified that the remarks were from a private conversation made five years back during discussions on the Karuvannur Cooperative Bank scandal.
Party district secretary Abdul Khader dismissed the allegations as “baseless” and “distorted.”
Claiming that the media had sensationalised the matter, he said the audio clip was old.
Stating that the lives of party leaders are transparent, Khader said the party will seek clarification and take appropriate action on the matter.
The Directorate of Enforcement has interrogated Moideen, Kannan, Davis Kada among others in the Karuvannur Service Cooperative Bank loan scam.
