Kochi: A minor girl’s opposition to her parents marrying her off to a casual worker has landed two families and others in trouble in Kerala’s Malappuram, Asianet News reported.
It was during the betrothal function the police barged into the venue at Marakkara Maravattom panchayat where the cops gathered evidence and booked the groom, two families and the invitees.
The 14-year old girl’s protection and education were bestowed on the Child Welfare Committee on Saturday.
The 9th standard girl confessed to the police about her keenness to pursue her studies while her parents coerced her to get into wedlock.
