Kochi: Former Sabarimala Temple Thiruvabharanam Commissioner K S Baiju was arrested by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) in connection with gold robbery on Thursday, Manorama News reported.
A total of four accused have been arrested in the case.
The SIT grilled him at the Crime Branch office in Thiruvananthapuram’s Enchakkal before the arrest. He will be produced before the Judicial First Class Magistrate Court in Ranni here.
It is also suspected that Baiju is part of the conspiracy hatched by the key accused Unnikrishnan Potti who was first to be arrested by the SIT.
Others arrested include former suspended TDB officials Murari Babu and D Sudheesh Kumar.
The Kerala High Court took suo motu cognizance of the case involving smuggling of gold artefacts out of the temple under the pretext of their makeover in violation of TDB and High Court strictures.
