DGP pulls back disputed circular

Kochi: A circular empowering top cops to adopt police stations in Keralam as per directives of the Prime Minister has been withdrawn as it turned debatable.
The circular became controversial after it gave powers to suspended ADGP M R Ajit Kumar to adopt a police station, Asianet news reported.
The circular suggested that top cops should adopt police stations to create model stations in the state.
The direction was given at the conference of the DGPs by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2025 as part of Vikasith Bharat mission.
The DGP issued directions in this regard to take control of 59 police stations.
Suspended ADGP M R Ajith Kumar was given charge of Varkala Police Station.
Suresh Raj Purohit, who is on Central government deputation, was given charge of Kilimanoor police station.
