Kochi: Popular lyricist of yesteryear Bichu Thirumala, 80, died of heart attack at Thiruvananthapuram inthe wee hours today.
Born in Sasthamangalam in Thiruvananthapuram, BSivasankaran Nair became Bichu Thirumala following his entry into the film world.
He graduated from the Thiruvananthapuram Arts College in 1970. His first film was Bhajagovindam 1972 which was unfortunately not released.
He has written lyrics for over thousands of songs which are still mesmerizing people. Besides film songs, he has also penned lyrics for numerous devotional songs.
His association with Shyam, Raveendran master, ATUmmer, G Devarajan, Ilayaraja, K J Joy, Ouseppachan, Johnson master, Jerry Amaldev, Shankar -Ganesh, A R Rahman gave birth to countless melodies.
He has also worked as author, script writer, composer and singer.
He has won many awards including Kerala State Film Award twice.
