Bumpy ride for Congress

Kochi: Congress-led UDF is buoyed over its commendable assembly election victory in Kerala where they were out of power for one decade.
The UDF is rightfully celebrating the win as it had endured well cadre-based Left front and the RSS powered mighty BJP.
The pity of the matter is the bumpy road ahead of the faction ridden Congress where spotting the Chief Minister will be the most challenging task.
V D Satheesan, Ramesh Chennithala and K C Venugopal are the contenders for the post even as Venugopal will have the advantage of his proximity to Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi.
The other challenges are dealing with alliance partners like Muslim League who have won over 20 seats and will certainly become a headache for Congress on allocation of power.
The most disturbing issue is the fearful financial burden of Rs 4.82 lakh crore the outgoing Left front government is leaving behind to the new government to deal with.
Even as BJP is heading the government at the centre, Congress might not find it difficult to get funds as other Congress governments in Himachal Pradesh Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka have not complained of such problems.
Congress alliance is going to face an aggressive Opposition including the Left front and the BJP-led NDA and are not going to be a cake walk for the grand old party.
