Kochi: China has thrown spanner in United Nation’s move to blacklist Pakistan terrorist Abdul Rauf Azhar.
China’s opposition to the United Nations Security plans to impose sanctions on Abdul, Deputy Chief of Jaish-E-Mohammad has led to the security council deferring the move.
China demanded more perusal of the matter before taking a final decision. The suggestion was made by the US and India. Support of at least 15 members of the security council is essential for ratifying a decision.
Rauf is the brother of Jaish-E-Mohammad founder Mashood Azhar who is one of the conspirators of the 1999 hijack of the Indian Airlines flight to Kabul.
Meanwhile, a terror attack in a army camp martyred three armymen while two of the terrorists were killed by army in Rajouri in the wee hours of Thursday.
Security has been tightened in the area following reports of terrorists hiding in the area. Six armymen who sustained injuries are under treatment.
Subedar Rajendra Prasad, Rifleman Manoj Kumar and Rifleman Lakshmanan D succumbed to their injuries.
