Congress will sing 3 stanzas of Vande Mataram

Kochi: Congress has announced its decision to sing only the first two stanzas of National Song Vande Mataram despite the government’s push to sing the full version at official events in the country.
The BJP said Congress has become a “new Muslim League”. The decision raises questions on the Congress’ “patriotism and loyalty” to the country, said the BJP’s national spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi told reporters in New Delhi, NDTV reported.
“This decision has completely shattered the Congress claim of being the sole copyright holder of the freedom struggle,” he said.
He further said that the Congress is showing the same stubbornness that the Muslim League had shown in 1931 when it opposed singing the full version.
Congress General Secretary K C Venugopal said its stand on Vande Mataram is in line with the top leadership’s decision in 1937.
The government has made the insult of the National Song a punishable offense.
