Kochi: The CPM party secretariat meeting did not take any action against Fisheries Minister Saji Cherian for his severe attack on the country’s constitution.
The available secretariat meeting discussed the matter while Saji came in for severe criticism from leaders during the meeting.
The leaders are reported to have said that Saji had provided arms to the Opposition parties to attack CPM.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan attended the meeting.
The meeting will further discuss the matter tomorrow.
CPM central leadership is disturbed on the issue. Party Secretary Sitaram Yechury told reporters at Delhi that the state leadership is discussing the matter and would take appropriate action.
LDF major ally CPI had suggested Saji Cherian to step aside until he is cleared of charges.
While coming out of the meeting, Saji refused to speak much other than that he had given clarification on it yesterday in the Assembly.
Saju Cherian had landed in controversy as he made a serious attack on the constitution of the country at Mallappally near Kottayam.
