Monkeypox patient’s travel trail doubtful

Kochi: The Health Department has asked people to remain vigilant in five districts in view of Kerala confirming the first case of monkeypox in the state.

Thiruvananthapuram, Kottayam, Kollam, Pathanamthitta and Alappuzha are the states alerted by the government, media reports said.

The health department has not been able to make a credible route map of the patient who travelled to different places on Arrival from Abu Dhabi on July 9.

The 35-year-old patient had travelled in an auto rickshaw and a taxi which have not been traced by the authorities.

The autorickshaw was used to travel to hospital and the taxi to go to Thiruvananthapuram medical College where the patient is currently under observation in an isolation ward. His condition is stated to be satisfactory factory.

It was first stated that the patient had gone to a private hospital while the hospital authorities have denied it.
