ED questions South Kerala CSI Bishop

Kochi: CSI South Kerala Bishop Dharmaraj Rasalam was on Wednesday questioned by the ED at Kochi in connection with a money laundering case connected with a church owned medical College near Thiruvananthapuram.
Rasalam was questioned for nine hours in the Enforcement Directorate office in Kochi.
The questioning remained inconclusive and it will continue tomorrow.
Rasalam was detained by immigration authorities when he was trying to flee to the UK on Tuesday after the ED raided the medical College and the residences of
College secretary T T Praveen and former director Dr Bennett Abraham.
The raids were conducted after they failed to appear before the ED office in Kochi despite being summoned by it.
There were police complaints against him and other officials of the medical College for defrauding gullible parents of students seeking admission in the college.
The HC in 2020 had cancelled the admission of 11 MBBS students for producing fake community certificates issued by the Bishop.
The court had also directed the Admission and Fee Regulatory Committee to act against it.
Dr Bennett Abraham had contested the Lok Sabha election as a CPI nominee against Shashi Tharoor of the Congress in 2014 and came third.
There were widespread allegations against CPI for selling the seat to Abraham.
