ED raids Pinarayi’s house

Kochi: The Directorate of Enforcement on Wednesday recorded statement of CMRL money laundering case accused Veena Vijayan and searched houses of her father and former Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s in Thiruvananthapuram, her husband Mohammed Riyas among 10 locations in Kerala in connection with the case.
Veena Vijayan, who was the promoter of now defunct Exalogic Solutions Pvt Ltd, is accused receiving remuneration from CMRL without offering any service, India Today reported.
The ED raided house of Pinarayi ‘s son in Law Muhammad Riyas, MLA, in Kozhikode.
CMRL, which makes synthetic rutile and industrial chemicals. The allegations first surfaced in August 2023 after reports claimed that Exalogic had received Rs 1.72 crore from CMRL between 2017 and 2020 despite rendering no services due to the influence of her father.
The raids were carried out after the High Court of Kerala granted permission to ED to carry on the investigation after a plea by some accused against the probe was rejected yesterday.
