Kochi: Melody queen Lata Mangeshkar, 92, passed away at Breach Candy hospital due to multi organ failure in Mumbai on Sunday.
Born as Hema Mangeshkar, she was admitted to the hospital due post COVID complications.
Born on September 28, 1929, in Indore, the
Nightingale of India, sung thousands of songs in at least 36 different languages.
She was born as eldest daughter to famous Marathi and Konkani musician Deenanath Mangeshkar and Shevanthi. Asha Bhosle and other siblings were popular singers and Meena Khadikar, Usha Mangeshkar and Hridaynath Mangeshkar.
She won Bharat Ratna, Dadasaheb Phalke ward and countless awards.
France honored her with the highest national honour Legion of Honour in 2007.
She started her musical journey as a teenager at the age of 13.
