Kochi: Udhayanidhi Stalin, former Tamil Nadu deputy Chief Minister, was arrested on Tuesday in connection with alleged remarks purportedly on popular actor Trisha.
The senior DMK leader was arrested for his alleged controversial remark on Trisha addressing a public rally in Thanjavur, the Hindu reported.
A leading actor, Udhayanidhi, who is Leader of the Opposition in Tamil Nadu, was arrested at his Neelankarai residence based on a complaint of a ruling TVK functionary.
Meanwhile, Madras High Court ordered to release Udayanidhi on a police station bail while hearing a petition seeking his anticipatory bail.
The court directed Udayanidhi to cooperate with the investigation and appear for inquiry as and when required.
