Water level in Idukki remains unchanged

Kochi: Water level continues to remain unchanged even after keeping three shutters of the Idukki dam open.

A total of 1.5  lakh litre of water per second is released from the dam even as the water level remains at 2,385 feet against its full reservoir level of 2,403 feet.

The catchment area of the dam is getting intermittent rains. Besides, there is heavy inflow from the Mullaperiyar dam which is releasing 5,000 cusecs water from ten of its sluices while Tamil Nadu was taking 2,000 cusecs water for its use from Mullaperiyar.

The inflow into the dam is 12,000 cusecs.
Banasura Sagar dam has been opened. One of the four shutters is raised 10 cms to release 8.5 cusecs of water.

Four shutters of the Malampuzha dam will be raised from 20 to 30 cms to release more water.

Red alert has been sounded in Idamlayar dam which will be opened tomorrow.
Water will be released from Idamalayar dam on Tuesday.

Orange alert has been sounded in Kakkayam dam.
