Kochi: People of Kerala would be gifted with a free Onam kit containing 14 food articles, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said today.
The government would spend Rs 425 crore towards this, he told reporters at Thiruvananthapuram.
Pinarayi Vijayan said that the hike affected due to increase in GST would not be implemented in Kerala. The Central government should rethink their decision on increasing taxes on essential articles through a GST hike.
He said that Rs 7,000 crore investment proposals have been received by the government. A Rs 1,200 crore major Responsible Investment project by TCS is going to happen in Kochi making Kerala the first state to achieve it.
Warning government officials against harassing investors, he said a fine would be imposed on officials who were found responsible for causing hurdles to investors.
He claimed that the KSIDC had created a record in 2020-21 by generating 20,000 employment opportunities in the state.
He accused the centre of trying to impose restrictions on Kerala’s borrowing powers.
He said the Centre was trying to scuttle
people’s welfare and comprehensive development schemes. The Centre’s stand on KIIFB is unconstitutional, he said.
