Kochi: Kerala government has got legal clearance to go ahead with a probe against Opposition Leader Pinarayi Vjayan, daughter Veena, her husband Mohammed Riyas, MLA, different cases including money laundering and bribery.
The Advocate General has given its nod to the government that there is ground to conduct an investigation by agencies to be decided by the state government in the wake of Directorate of Enforcement making an application to Kerala police chief to book the accused.
The government has to decide if it should be done by the vigilance department or the Crime Branch.
The ED had submitted evidence to state police chief seeking to book former Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan of CPM, daughter Veena, her husband Mohammed Riyas, MLA, for Money laundering and bribery including Rs. 3.28 crore allegedly obtained by Vijayan.
A report submitted by the ED to DGP cited proof quoting former CMRL CFO P Suresh’s admission of paying a bribe of Rs 3.28 crore to Pinarayi.
The ED also named his son-in-law Mohammed Riyas of receiving bribes and transferring them to Dubai through wife Veena Thaikandiyil and known associates.
Veena assisted father and husband, Directorate of Enforcement (ED) said in its 25 pages report, Asianet news reported.
