Kochi: In a bid to create large employment opportunities, the Lulu group will set up a marine export center to help fishermen to get attractive remuneration at Kochi.
The marine products caught by the fishermen in Kerala will be sold in Lulu outlets abroad, founder and Managing Director M A Yusuf Ali told reporters at Thiruvananthapuram.
The Lulu group will set up Malls in Kozhikode and Kottayam.
The group will set up an electronic assembly unit at Thiruvananthapuram after the Vizhinjam port is commissioned, Yusuf Ali said on the eve of the inauguration of the Lulu Mall in Thiruvananthapuram at an investment of Rs 2000 crore.
The 20 lakh sq ft mall will provide employment to 15,000 directly and indirectly.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the mall. Union minister V Muraleedharan, Opposition Leader V D Satheeshan, Shashi Tharoor, MP, and others will attend the function.
The group is an Emirati Multinational conglomerate operating a chain of hypermarkets and retail companies headquartered at Abu Dhabi, UAE.
Founded in 2000 by Yusuf Ali, the group provides employment to 57,000 people in 215 stores in Asia, Africa, Europe and America.
