Union Minister not allowed to meet George

Kochi: Former Government Chief Whip P C George was today arrested under non bailable sections of 295 (A) and 153 (A) for making hate speech at Hindu Mahasammelanam at Thiruvananthapuram on April 29.
He will be examined medically before producing in front of the Thiruvananthapuram Judicial First Class Magistrate Court -II.
As the courts are under vacation, George is likely to be produced online.
George was taken into custody from his house in Erattupetta after a case was registered against him. He was taken to Thiruvanthapuram where another case was registered and arrest recorded.
On the other hand, the BJP cheered him and Union Minister V Muraleedharan tried to meet him but was refused permission.
An agitated Muraleedharan said the Left government was biased and was taking selective action against those who have made similar speeches.
He said a government which fights for freedom of speech has acted against George.
He said the government should act against all those people who have made similar speeches.
However, Muraleedharan avoided questions on BJP’s stand on George’s remarks. Senior BJP leader K Surendran also avoided a direct reply to it at Kasaragod.
Meanwhile, the DYFI activists flashed black flags against George while BJP workers adorned George with a shawl enroute to the jail. They shouted slogans against him while BJP activists cheered George.
Interestingly, today is the concluding day of the Hindu Mahasammelanam, the venue which is nearby.
Muralidharan is here to attend the event. More BJP leaders are expected to make attempts to meet George.
