NHAI enters Guinness book

Kochi: NHAI has made India proud by entering the Guinness Book of World Records by laying a 75-kms road in a record time of 105 hours and 33 minutes.
The National Highways Authorities of India (NHAI) had begun the work at 07.27 am on Jube 03 and completed it at 5 pmon June 7.
The sector is crucial as it connects cities like Kolkata, Raipur, Nagpur, Dhule and Surat.
NHAI had originally planned to carry out the road work in the Amravati – Akola sector in Maharashtra in 108 hours. NHAI was more efficient than expected as it further reduced the time to complete the work by another three hours.
The work was carried out under the strict monitoring of Guinness Book representatives.
Armed with a maximum of 1000 workers and high efficiency machines, the Pune-based contractor Rajpath Infracon used bituminous concrete for work.
The group had set up a well-equipped team of Quality Control Engineers and Safety Officers
for executing the project.
A well-equipped laboratory as per the norms of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) monitored the work, media reports said.
A number of squads comprising project managers, engineers to take care of highways, quality and safety were dedicated to take care of different sections.
A management think tank and war room were also put into operation.
Rajpath Infracon is planning to dedicate the highway to the nation on the occasion of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.
The previous record was held by Qatar, which had built a 25 km road in 242 hours by Public Works Authority Ashghal in Doha, Qatar, media reports said.
