Kochi: The NIA arrested C Shafeer of Kannur for sheltering prime accused Savad in the T J Joseph attack case in 2010, media reports said.
Shafeer facilitated Savad to stay underground at Mattannur in Kannur. He was nabbed from Thalasserry the other day.
A native of Ernakulam, Savad, who went innuendo for 13 years after leading the attack on Joseph alleging blasphemy, was arrested in March last year.
A Malayalam faculty in Newman College, Thodupuzha, Joseph was attacked on July 4, 2010, by an Islamic outfit.
Criminal charges were slapped against 37 out of which six went absconding.
Thirtyone of them were put to trial in a special National Investigation Agency court in July 2013
The court convicted 13 who belonged to the PFI on 8 May 2015. The court acquitted the remaining 18.
