Kochi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday blamed the Congress for failing to keep the strategic Katchatheevu island under India’s control, media reports said.
Modi expressed shock over the Right To Information (RTI) report which gave details of how the Congress government handed over the island to Sri Lanka in 1974.
Citing a media report, Modi wrote on X, the report on the island was “eye-opening and startling”.
PM Modi said that this showed that “Congress can never be trusted”.
Tamil Nadu fishermen heavily used the island for fishing, the reports said.
