Kochi : Rape accused, actor, producer, Vijay Babu was arrested today when he appeared at Aluva Police club for questioning.
He will be taken to different places for evidence collection.
Vijay is likely to be arrested in another case in which he made public the name of the survivor on social media.
As he had secured anticipatory bail from the Kerala High Court, the police granted him bail.
He is also being questioned in connection with the allegation that he offered Rs 1 crore to influence the victim to withdraw her allegations.
Vijay was eluding arrest after the actor made a police complaint against Vijay Babu who escaped to Goa and later to Dubai and other places.
Kerala police had sought Interpol’s help to nab him. He surrendered after the High Court directed him to appear before the police.
The court also stopped the police from arresting him. Following this he surrendered before the police who have been questioning him during the last few days.
Yesterday he attended the meeting organised by actors’ association AMMA which had refused to act against him until the court took any decision.
An Internal Complaint Cell (ICC) of AMMA conducted a probe into the allegations and sought action against Vijay Babu. However, AMMA ignored the recommendations following which three members of the ICC resigned from the organisorgan.
