Kochi: Security has been beefed up in distrubed areas while educational institutions have been shut due to Thursday night’s killing of a 22-year-old food delivery man Fasil at Surathkal in South Karnataka.h
Section 144 CrPc has been imposed from 10 pm to 6 am till July 30 in Surathkal and nearby areas.
School and colleges in Surathkal, Mulky, Bajpe and Panambur areas will remain closed on July 29.
In a video message, Police commissioner Sashi Kumar said the killing has created fear in people. Suspected persons would be detained for questioning, he said.
Nineteen check posts have been set up to screen people’s movement.
He said the motive behind the murder of Fazil was not clear. The police have registered a case on the basis of a complaint.
Imposition of restrictions would create problems for senior citizens, students, workers and others as Mangaluru is a bus hub of education and other activities.
He urged people to co-operate with the police.
