Kochi: In a blow to the BJP in Himachal Pradesh, the Congress won the Shimla Municipal corporation election by winning 24 wards out of the 34 wards in the local body election.
The BJP got nine wards while one went in favour of the CPM. The Aam Aadmi party failed to win any seat.
In 2017, Congress had won only 12 wards, while the BJP emerged victorious in 17 wards. Four wards were won by Independents and one to CPM.
Fifty Nine percent of voting was recorded in the election in the hill station.
Due to legal problems, the election delayed by one year even as the tenure of the local body ended in June 2022.
