Kochi: Congress has shifted five of its MLAs to Chennai in view of reports of BJP trying to lure Congress MLAs to its camp in Goa.
Congress has 11 MLAs in the assembly.
Sankalp Amonkar, Altone D’Costa, Carlos Alvares Ferreira, Rudolfo Fernandez and Yuri Alemao, media reports said.
Sankalp Amonkar is Congress Legislative Party leader.
Former Chief Minister Digambar Kamath and Michael Lobob were engaged in divisive work in the party with Dinesh Gundu Rao having charge of Goa.
Kamath and six other MLAs skipped the party meeting held before the Assembly monsoon session that started on July 11
There were rumours of these leaders migrating to BJP. Following this Opposition Leader Michael Lobo was removed from the post.
The Congress has filed a petition before the assembly Speaker seeking disqualification of Kamath and Lobo.
