Kochi: West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankar is the NDA candidate for India’s Vice President’s post.
The decision was taken at the BJP parliamentary board meeting at New Delhi.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP President J P Nadda, union ministers Ramnath Singh, Amit Shah were among those attended the meeting.
A meeting of the Opposition parties convened by the Congress to find a consensus candidate as Vice Presidential election will be held in New Delhi on Sunday.
There were differences in the Opposition in finding a candidate for President’s post.
The term of the Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu will end on August 10. The election is scheduled for August 6. The last date for filing of nomination would endsl on July 19.
Dhankar became Governor of West Bengal on July 30, 2019.
