SC’s relief for Ganguly, Jay Shah

Kochi: BCCI president Saurav Ganguly and secretary Jay Shah could continue in office
as the Supreme Court allowed the BCCI to remove a law that prevented them from continuing in office for completing six years, media reports said.

A BCCI law called the ‘cooling off’ period prevented them from continuing in their positions after completing two consecutive terms, the reports said.

The Supreme Court decision comes at a time when their terms were coming to end this month.

As per the old law one had to keep off from the position for three years after remaining in office for six years.

The office bearers can now have a maximum of 12 years at one go. One can serve two terms of three years each at the state cricket associations and another two terms of three year each at BCCI.
