Kochi: Over 200 people were killed and more than 900 injured in a multiple train mishaps in Balasore in Odisha collision last night.
The Yeshwantpur-Howrah Superfast Express
rammed into the Shalimar-Chennai Coromandel Express which lay on the parallel track after derailment sometime before the arrival of the Howrah bound train, media reports said.
This led to derailment of the Bengaluru train increasing the gravity of the accident.
A high-level probe has been ordered into the accident.
The railways have announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 10 lakh to those killed and Rs. 2 lakh to those seriously injured and Rs. 50,000 to those with minor injuries.
