Kochi: In an important development, the Kerala High Court allowed the Crime Branch to get the memory card in the actor abuse case examined at a forensic lab.
The ruling assumed significance as the trial court had refused permission to the Crime Branch to get it examined following which it moved the High Court.
The court directed to get the report of the forensic examination within one week.
The court said that the forensic investigation should not in any way hinder the further investigation and proceedings in the trial court.
The additional time assigned by the High Court to wind up the investigation in the case is July 15.
The case pertains to abduction and abuse of a leading South Indian actress in a moving vehicle and taking video recording of the crime on February 17, 2017.
Actor Dileep was arrested and was in jail for 85 days in this case.
