Twenty20 a tough rival

Kochi: Kerala High Court’s decision to stay Ernakulam Collector’s decision to shut down a subsidised medical shop floated by Twenty20 at Kizhakkambalam has boosted the confidence of non profit outfit promoted by businessman Sabu Jacob.

The collector had ordered closure of the shop acting on a complaint accusing Twenty20 of

violating the model code of conduct.

Twenty20 moved the High Court challenging Collector’s order to down the shutter of

the medical shop that was opened a few days back offering medicines upto a discount of 80 percent.

Meanwhile, rivalry has heated up between Twenty20 and traditional political parties in Ernakulam and Chalakudy where the party has fielded its candidates.

Unlike other parties, Twenty20 is blessed to have a large number of volunteers to campaign for the candidates.

The anger of political parties against Twenty20 is so acute that party posters displayed in many places including Kottiyadanmala in Mazhuvannur.

The Kitex group promoter and head of Twenty20, Sabu Jacob is leaving no stones unturned to turn his goodwill into votes.

Buoyed over having control of four panchayats, Kizhakkambalam taluk, Twenty20 has turned out to be a nightmare for political parties.

Sreenijan, MLA, of CPM tried to subdue Sabu Jacob who crushed all the attempts made by the Left leader who was once in Congress which he left due to lack of acceptance.

While CPM has exhausted all the ammunition left in its armory, Congress and BJP are nowhere in the scene.
