AAP to skip polls, NDA names A N Radhakrishnan

Kochi: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has decided to not contest the Thrikkakara By Election to be held on May 31.
This was started by AAP state convener P C Cyriac at a press conference here.
He said that the AAP central leadership is in favour of focussing its firepower in the assembly election.
It would also contest the future local bodies poll in Kerala, he said.
The Kizhakkambalam-based Twenty20 had announced its plans to field a common candidate in association with AAP. Twenty20 has not made its position clear after the recent announcement of AAP.
Meanwhile, the BJP-led NDA has fielded A N Radhakrishnan from the seat.
Radhakrishnan, who is the vice president of
BJP’s Kerala unit will have to sweat it out due to the changed political scenario in the state.
BJP had witnessed a drop in its vote share from 4.36 per cent in 2016 to 11.34 per cent in
2021.
On both the occasions, it was S Saji, BJP candidate.
On the other hand Congress candidate Uma Thomas is loaded with sympathy in her favour. She has also turned out to be very shrewd in seeking votes from the people.
Above all Uma is having the advantage of inheriting the legacy of P T Thomas in fighting in favour of the survivor in the actor abuse case. It was in Thrikkakara the survivor approached P T Thomas after she was abused aboard a vehicle.
The CPM-led LDF candidate is Dr Jo Joseph.
The cardiologist adorning the red flag is not going to make much impact as the government is on the back foot on many issues like the K-Rail issue.
Also the government’s biased attitude in handling the actor abduction case involving actor Dileep is going to impact the party in the poll in a big way.
