darknet-based narcotics trafficking
by Edison of Muvattupuzha, the NCB has arrested a resort owner and wife for allegedly trafficking drugs within the country and abroad, media reports said.
The couple Deol, owning Sunset Valley Resort in Panchalimedu, Idukki, and Manju were accused of trafficking ketamine to Australia.
According to the NCB, Deol is a close aide of Edison, the alleged mastermind behind “Ketamelon”, a darknet-hosted drug market.
The couple had been smuggling ketamine to Australia since 2019.
According to the NCB, Edison, is a key player in the darknet drug trade, operating country’s largest network.
The NCB worked for four-months leading to the unearthing of LSD blots worth over ₹35 lakh. Edison allegedly handled over 10,000 LSD blots in a month, with transactions carried out using Monero cryptocurrency.
Edison, mechanical engineer, was produced before the court which remanded him to judicial custody. Edison is believed to have floated the dark web nearly six years ago.
The NCB has urged the public to report drug-related crimes anonymously via the toll-free helpline 1933.
