Kochi: Even as Congress has ignored its MP Shashi Tharoor’s tirade against the party, a Catholic priest took umbrage to the former diplomat’s article, media reports said.
Fr Jose Vallikkatt based at Bhatinda in Punjab, said took to social media to flay Tharoor and Deepika, a Catholic Church managed publication.
Fr Jose Vallikkatt, maintained that the Emergency agreed that Emergency was a dark phase in India’s political history. He criticised Tharoor for ignoring the ‘far more terrifying undeclared Emergency in operation today.’
Fr Vallikkat criticised Tharoor for praising the current administration.
The priest said “the country is witnessing a surreptitious silencing of dissenting voices and is being driven towards a monolithic right wing Hindu fascist State”.
