Kochi: All educational institutions will remain closed on July 23 in Alappuzha to help people pay homage to former Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan whose body will be laid to rest at 3 pm at the Valiya Chudukad tomorrow.
Professional colleges and government offices will also remain closed. The funeral cortege that left Secretariat this afternoon will reach Alappuzha by late night covering 151 kms.
The body will then be kept at the Alappuzha CPM district committee office and later taken to Alappuzha Police Recreation Ground.
PSC examinations scheduled for July 22 have been postponed, and the revised date will be announced later.
The CPM veteran will be cremated at Valiyachudukad in Alappuzha around 4 pm on Wednesday. On Wednesday morning, public homage will continue at his residence, the CPM district committee office, and the Recreation Ground.Â
The body will be taken to the party committee office around 9 am and later to the Recreation Ground by 11 am.
