Kochi: Sabarimala gold robbery prime accused Unnikrishnan Potti has confessed to having sold the robbed gold to a trader Govardhan in Bellary in Karnataka, media reports said.
Potti, who is in the Special Investigation Team (SIT) custody, allegedly confessed to selling 476 grams of gold in 2019.
After extracting gold from the gold articles of the temple, Smart Creations in Chennai allegedly transferred gold to middleman Kalpesh as per Potti’s instructions.
The SIT is probing how the proceeds were utilised. The SIT had seized bank documents from Potti’s house.
Govardhan was summoned by SIT before whom he allegedly confessed to having traded the gold.
The SIT has left for Bengaluru and Chennai for getting more details about the crime.
