Kochi: Congress leader Sonia Gandhi and son Rahul Gandhi, Leader of Opposition were among those named in the fresh FIR registered by the Delhi police in the National Herald case, media reports said.
The Delhi Police’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW) filed a new FIR in the case after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) headquarters filed a complaint with the EOW.
The case surfaced after former MP Subramanian Swamy moved court alleging misuse of funds by the Congress leaders and companies linked to Associated Journals Limited (AJL), which publishes the National Herald newspaper.
The investigation agency accused the Congress leaders of acquiring properties worth approximately â‚ą2,000 crore belonging to AJL.
It further alleged that the Gandhis held the majority 76 per cent shares in Young Indian, which “fraudulently” usurped the assets of AJL in exchange for a ₹90 crore loan.
Earlier, the court had issued notices to Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and others.
