Kochi: Rohit Sharma began his innings as a captain elegantly by outplaying visiting New Zealand 3-0.
New Zealand, which crushed India out of the recently concluded ICC T20 World Cup, failed in all departments in the T20 series against India. The third and final T20 at Eden Gardens in Kolkata showed India’s supremacy in the game.
Ideal team selection made India superior to the visitors. Yet, the presence of pacer B Kumar surprised many. India won the earlier matches at Jaipur and Ranchi.
India skipper Rohit won the toss and decided to bat. As usual Rohit played a responsible innings of 56. Ishant made 29 and Shreyas Iyer 25. India scored 184 for 7.
For the visitors, Santner took three for twenty-seven. In reply, New Zealand were all out for 111 in 17.2 overs. Martin Guptil made 51. For India, Axar Patel took 3 for 9 and Harshal Patel 2 for 26.
