Farmers’ meet remain inconclusive

Kochi: A decision to end the 15 month old ryots’ strike in the wake of government rolling back the controversial farms laws will be taken on Wednesday.

A meeting of top farm leaders met at Singhu near New Delhi today to take a decision on the union Government’s written assurances.

The Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) representing 40 farmers’ union, deferred the decision to call off the strike citing lack of clarity in the assurances.

Bharatiya Kisan Union leader Rakesh Tikait did not take part in the meeting.
There is division within SKM on the issue of ending the strike with majority favouring the stir in the wake of government rolling back the controversial farms laws.

The farmers meeting felt that there was lack of clarity on issues like Lakhimpur case, MSP, Power bill among others.
