Kochi: Australia lifted the ICC T20 championship cup beating New Zealand by eight wickets at Dubai on Sunday.
Earlier, Australia won the crucial toss and elected to field. Though New Zealand started confidently, they fumbled in the middle with the exit of hard hitters Mitchell who retired to pavilion in the fourth over.
Guptill fell in the 12 over for 28 and things appeared bleak when captain Williamson took control of the situation.
Thereafter, it appeared that New Zealand were heading to post a huge score. Suddenly the tempo slowed down when Wlliamson fell making 85 runs.
For Australia, Hazlewood took 3 for 16. In response, Australia started their innings with confidence.
Warner made 53 runs while Marsh with 77 and Maxwell with 28 runs remained unbeaten.
For New Zealand Boult took 2 for 18. Australia reached the target in 18.5 overs.
