BSNL, MTNL asset sale opens

Kochi: Six assets of BSNL and MTNL is open for sale for a reserve price of Rs 970  crore as part of the centre’s asset monetisation programme.

The Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM) has disclosed 
the move to monetise the assets in the non-core sector on its website.

The assets in the non-core area of BSNL in Chandigarh, Bhavnagar and Kolkata at a reserve price of Rs 660 crore.

The MTNL has listed for sale its Basari Hill asset in Goregaon for Rs 310 crore.
“Non-core asset monetisation commences with the first set of six properties of BSNL/MTNL bid out on the MSTC portal,” DIPAM secretary Tuhin Kanta Pandey tweeted.

The e-auction for the sale will be held from December 14 2021. The asset monetisation is part of Rs 69,000 crore revival plan of MTNL and BSNL approved by the government in October 2019.

The monetisation target is Rs 37,500 crore by 2022.
The MTNL, which was set up in 1986, posted a loss of Rs 653 crore during July-September quarter, 2020.

The total debt of MTNL until last fiscal is Rs 25,615 crore.
