Cops file report before court on Navin Babu case

Kochi: As directed by the District court, the police have submitted a report on further investigation into the death of senior Revenue official Navin Babu on October 14, 2024 when he was found dead in his quarters.

The police have added 13 new witnesses in the case, media reports said.
Navin’s widow Manjusha had moved Thalassery Additional District and Sessions court challenging the findings that he had committed suicide citing 13 follies in the original chargesheet.
Admitting Manjusha’s plea, the Court on May 16 ordered a report on further investigation to be submitted on May 30.
Navin was found dead at his official residence in Kannur a few hours before leaving for Pathanamthitta to join his family after getting a transfer.
The then Kannur District panchayat president P P Divya is an accused in the case as she
had barged into the sent off function organised for Navin in Kannur collectorate where she publicly accused Navin as a corrupt official. His death took place after this incident.
The court directed police to investigate into one T V Prashanthan who accused Babu of demanding a bribe from him for starting a petrol pump.
