Kochi: The ED has filed chargesheet in a Special Court against Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s former Principal Secretary M Sivasankar in the Life Mission case in which he is first accused.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has named Swapna Suresh as the second accused. She was an official in the UAE consulate in Thiruvananthapuram then.
The ED has found Sivasankar the mastermind behind the black money transactions in the case. Sivasankar is accused of violating the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act in the Life Mission project. Sivasankar is accused of receiving the bribe and parking it with Swapna Suresh.
A total of 11 accused have been included
in the chargesheet.
Life Mission project, aimed at providing shelter to the poor, received Rs 20 crore from UAE-based charitable organization Red Crescent for building shelters for victims of the 2018 floods in Wadakkanchery in Thrissur.
The ED unearthed the contractor Unitac Builders MD Santhosh Eapen reportedly paying middlemen Rs 4.5 crore for winning the contract.
